After some searching I found a medium that met my wishes. The medium is a reverend, honest, not interested in getting rich with his gift, but in helping the left behind to find comfort and healing through contacting their departed loved ones.

I'd like to mention beforehand that the medium only knew my name, address, email address and ICQ number, as well as my credit card number. The medium lives over a thousand miles away from me, and I never had contact with him before. The medium also didn't have an opportunity to get information about me in this short period of time – I was 'squeezed in' the same evening, after I had sent out my order form in the late afternoon – as the medium already was busy with other readings before mine.

The medium is clairvoyant, clairsentient, and clairaudient; this means that he 'sees' the spirit, feels emotions and pain of the spirit, and is able to 'hear' the spirit. These skills are not always the same with different mediums. Each medium has specific strong points, and this medium is known to be one of the best 'illustrative mediums', i. e. he has the ability to describe the personality and character traits of the spirit. The reading took place via ICQ, where, according to the medium, the connection is not as strong as if a reading is held over the phone, or the client sits across from the medium. This particular medium dictates his emotions, and his wife types everything into their computer.

Having read the books I mentioned in Can We Contact the Dead?, I already knew that real mediums do not like to ask the client questions in order to avoid raising unnecessary doubt on the authenticity of their statements. However, and the explanation for this is in the next chapter, the medium sometimes needs a little 'feedback', because some messages are difficult to understand for a medium as he or she neither knows the client nor the spirit, and thus is not always sure whether the client did comprehend the spirit's statements.

The following is the log as it was saved after the reading. I only added explanations where necessary and corrected some typos. I was quite nervous at the beginning of the session. I had never used the ICQ chat before, and I needed a few seconds to figure out where I had to read on the split screen and where I had to type. In doing so, I read the first few lines superficially, which right away lead to a misunderstanding in identifying the spirit. In the following chapter, I will explain why one does not always get the spirit one wishes to get.

Medium: ok, larry is going to link now... cause it's spirit you want to connect with isn't it, you don't want tarot or anything like that...

Medium: larry is linking then

Peter: depends on... let's see what happens

Medium: larry feels the presence of a lady who is trying to link with him and he also senses that there would have been some form of fluid on the chest, on the lungs like bronchial pneumonia, and he also feels that her personality was a very curious and inquisitive type of personality...

Medium: but a warm, loving soul :-)

Peter: yes

Medium: and he is looking at a ring that she is showing him and its got a high shank and he sees a row of three diamonds on it, might be more on it but he can only see three because of the angle its being held at :-)

Medium: there is a feeling of... well she has a lovely sense of humour because larry says that she said, well I felt about 87...

Medium: but he feels a lot of love and warmth and as I type this to you peter do you feel warm around your face, particularly around your eyes and a warm glow coming up around your heart area

Peter: I am nervous, so I don't know what I feel, but I'm not sure if we are linking with the right spirit...

Medium: it its not THE one you want to talk to... can you still understand who it might be even though its not THE one

Medium: ok no problems,

Medium: ok

Peter: not yet as there are more females

Medium: this is your mother, she was one of three sisters

Medium: this lady is someone who was very motherly to you, just like a mother

Peter: no, my mother didn't have three sister... two I mean

Medium: on your mother's side of the family there are three sisters, if it is not with your mother, then it is with your grandmother

Medium: also

Medium: did you say your mother had two sisters?

Peter: no, neither, but the spirit I want to talk to is one of three sisters

Medium: oh right, well why didn't you say so LOL

Medium: larry was looking for the three sisters, so as long as you can understand it then that's ok :-)

Peter: my mother had only one sister

Peter: yes, she was, but what irritated me was your reference to 87 or s.th.

Medium: larry is aware of the lady who is coming through and he feels that she was protective towards you, like a strong motherly feeling that she brings and he is being shown a little black dog with white around the left eye and the snout and around the front of the chest area and on the left leg and the right paw

Medium: ok, she said she felt 87 meaning she felt old... it was her humour because she is talking about the way she was feeling before she went to spirit...

Peter: I can relate to that

Medium: larry feels a rather sharp pain in the left of the chest but he also senses that she would have had some difficulites with her health over the last few months of her earth life... because he hears someone talking about medicine or medication

Medium: but she talks about the joy that she has now in as much as she is away from the suffering she talks of her love for you

Medium: and the gratitude she has to you for being such a wonderful help and inspiration, she talks of the humour that you brought to her

Medium: which helped her to deal with her pain...

Medium: she talks about you being quite good with an iron as well and she is laughing, like shes saying, I knew you could do it :-)

Medium: larry is aware of a gentleman who is with her who is much older than she is and he would have been a very proud man and would never have asked for help from anyone...

Medium: but he did care about others

Medium: this lady is showing larry quite an old town or an old village

Medium: of single level properties which he feels is a memory

Medium: he also feels the support and encouragement that spirit are bringing to you and they are also saying that it is not goodbye

Medium: they are very much around you and the home

Medium: someone is talking to larry about a log cabin in the hills

Medium: and he feels quite an elderly gentleman who would be referring to this...

Medium: like a grandfather on father's side of the family who loved the wilderness...

Medium: and larry also feels that he had a love of animals too...

Medium: with the lady in spirit larry feels she is drawing his attention to her eyesight

Medium: and he senses that there is a little bit of blurred vision

(Remark: Preparing for the removal of her cornea, the nurse had placed moist gauze pads over her eyes, which I took off when there was not enough time left to remove her cornea)

Medium: but he keeps hearing... tell him I love him... and larry has a lot of emotion that she brings to you

Medium: he also hears someone talking of an anniversary in the november time and theres also a birthday celebration next month which should be significant

Medium: larry also senses a much younger personality who is trying to come through and he senses that it is a female

Medium: there is a baby boy in the spirit world

Medium: and there's love that is being sent from him too

Medium: there's a gentleman who is telling larry that he passed very quickly to the spirit world and it would have been through a heart attack, very quick, very sudden and he didn't get a chance to shave before he went he says :-)

Medium: but then, he wasn't too worried about it because he didn't believe in such things, didn't believe in life after death...

Medium: but it was a bit of a pleasant surprise to him to "wake up" on the other side :-)

Medium: spirit are talking about an engagement

Medium: and how pleased they were for you

(Remark: This was a prophecy: spirits wanted to tell me that I would find a new wife)

Medium: does this make sense...

Peter: I'm not sure regarding the engagement

Medium: there are three very special loving people who are connected with you in a family way

Medium: who are trying to bring a lot of love and encouragement to you

Medium: and one in particular spirit, would have had a pretty... irritating cough or chest infection before he went to the spirit world...

(Remark: A lady by the name of Janice was sitting next to my wife during dialysis. She passed away shortly before my wife. She is the only 'Janice' I know, but I didn't remember until after the reading)

Peter: no, neither

Medium: don't worry :-)

Medium: the lady keeps talking about rushing to try and get to the hospital and a feeling of disappointment because you didn't make it, does this make sense to you?

Peter: yes, it does

Medium: ok thanks

Medium: larry just feels that they are saying that it was better that way but

Medium: she did hear your goodbyes she says to larry

Medium: because you have always been a worrier on the inside

Medium: and larry feels she talks about... oh, please forgive me for not getting here on time... those have been your kind of thoughts

Medium: she smiles and says... but I did wait and as soon as I saw you coming in I left, but I was welcomed to spirit... by quite a few family members

Medium: she didn't wait until you got there she says, because it would have been too upsetting for you and she didn't want to see you upset...

Medium: larry just feels that she is saying ( with her humour ) she talks about

Medium: the need to vacate the room :-)

Medium: like she is putting others before herself, which was a common thing for her to do

(Remark: Other spirits were trying to get through to me and my wife wanted to make room for them, but I didn't want to let her go)

Medium: larry just keeps hearing... tell him I love him

Medium: and don't be so upset inside

Medium: I am always in your heart

Medium: we had some good laughs and some good times together

Medium: and we also shared some not so good times

Medium: and I would never change all that she says

Medium: does that make sense to you peter?

Peter: yes, very much

Medium: she talks about the children

Medium: and in her eyes they will always be children

Peter: no, I know some davids but I wouldn't know whom she means

Medium: larry mentioned earlier, a little baby boy in the spirit world and larry feels that she was talking of a miscarriage

Medium: of the past

Medium: and she talks to him about fair hair as being a prominent thing within her family

Medium: and that's where larry thinks she is referring of the david

Peter: I don't know, she had none...

(Remark: By asking within the family I found out that my mother had a miscarriage long before she had me, which I didn't know anything of. My parents also had fair hair. Obviously there was some miscommunication. Larry felt that she was talking about her family, while I understood that my wife was supposed to have had the miscarriage, which of course she had not, but she had dark hair, and so do my son and I)

Medium: she keeps coming back to this very deep bond of love between you

Medium: she keeps talking about you are doing alright out of this, and you will find out by asking

Medium: in the family

Peter: I will ask

Medium: shes sucking on some lozenges or some sort of pastille type sweets...

Medium: which larry feels is something that she enjoyed doing when she was deep in thought

Medium: and he hears the name john being given to him who he thinks is here on the earth...

(Remark: This was another prophecy. Shortly after the reading I sold a machine to a man by the name of 'John', the only 'John' that I personally knew. I already had tried to sell this machine for quite some time, and the sale was important for me)

Medium: and the name mary too

(Remark: The only Mary I knew had died shortly before this reading)

Medium: but larry feels mary is in spirit

Medium: but... is it clear to you why she keeps referring to her love for you... larry just keeps feeling a very deep and significant bond that was there... is there...

Peter: yes

Medium: ok thanks

Medium: thank you for the love that you gave back to me, it made me so special

Medium: feel so special

Medium: larry feels a lot of emotion from her and he also feels that there was reference from her that she was hoping to have had much longer here on the earth because she had very high hopes for things to work out better

Medium: she talks of nobody being quite as committed to her happiness as you were

Medium: she has never met such a kind and caring soul as you

Medium: she talks that your heart is somewhere else, it is not here ( she is not referring to spirit )

Medium: larry feels that there were discussions of moving on any way with her before she passed...

(Remark: We had planned to move back to Germany, but it was already too late due to my wife's condition)

Medium: ok and that is what larry feels she is saying

Medium: to go to move on

Medium: to live and enjoy life

Medium: you deserve the best from all this and life

Medium: and she has been in some way instrumental in helping you to achieve a part of it

Medium: but where ever you go, she will be true to you

Medium: and be there with you

Medium: she talks about a property on a higher elevation to where you are at this moment

Medium: like she is talking about rising above things

Peter: it may, I have to think about it

Medium: larry feels is what she is trying to say is what was hers is yours

Medium: because you shared so many things in life

(Remark: We had three dogs that she liked, and one that she didn't get along with. All four had already died before the reading)

Medium: she's happy in the fact that she is free from any physical suffering

Medium: but she sure misses you, but she smiles and says, patience is one of my good points :-) but at least now she can guide you

Medium: but larry had the feeling that it was not a great length of time that you were together

Peter: no, not long enough for both of us

Medium: about seven, eight years?

Peter: no, 26 years, she was ill for 7-8 years

Medium: the engagement ring... larry just had the feeling that the engagement ring was significant in that her thoughts and feelings were... she felt like she was on honeymoon practically every day of those years :-)

Medium: and is the name francis significant

This was 'my proof'. And the vigilant reader will have noticed that my most burning questions were answered before I could even ask them! I don't really want to reveal my private life here, that's why I only say that everything was surprisingly correct – apart from a few names, which, to be honest, did not really interest me, because I didn't want to know how a grand-aunt or perhaps our former neighbor is doing, I was only interested in my wife – and even that made a lot of sense to me after I thought about it. Larry gave me so many details that he simply couldn't have guessed, and these were details that would not fit all clients. Even I, being a skeptical person by nature, clearly recognized my wife in the statements and descriptions. I even could envision her standing before me thanks to the good description. And thanks to the medium, I could perhaps even feel her a little bit.

Unfortunately, an outside observer cannot understand HOW beneficial such a reading is for a person in mourning! It has spared me a lot of agonizing months, has healed me more than drugs could have done because drugs do not answer anguishing questions, and the statements were extremely clear and not just flowery phrases. There were too many details in them that only my wife and I could have known!
